This policy explains what information Burch Appraisals, LLC ("Burch Appraisals," "we," "us") collects through this website, our online order form and our client portal, and how we use and protect it.
Information we collect
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, phone number, email and mailing address.
- Property and order details, such as the property address, the purpose of the appraisal, access instructions and due dates.
- Documents you upload through the client portal, such as purchase contracts, surveys, plans, upgrade lists, HOA information or estate paperwork.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by our portal provider and its payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Basic technical data that web browsers send automatically, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.
How we use it
- To quote, schedule, complete and deliver your appraisal.
- To communicate with you about your order, inspection and invoice.
- To keep the records that appraisers are required to keep. Under the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), we retain each appraisal workfile for at least five years, and longer if it becomes part of a legal proceeding.
- To keep our website and portal secure and working properly.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Confidentiality
Appraisers are bound by USPAP's confidentiality requirements. We do not disclose confidential information or the results of an appraisal to anyone other than the client, parties the client authorizes, and those allowed by law. These include state appraiser regulatory agencies, a duly authorized professional peer review committee, and anyone entitled to it by due process of law, such as a subpoena or court order.
Who we share information with
- Our client and intended users named in the appraisal assignment, such as your lender for a mortgage appraisal.
- Service providers that help us run the business, such as our client portal and ordering software (Appravia), our website contact form service (Web3Forms), payment processing, email and website hosting. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- Regulators and legal authorities when required by law.
Third-party services
Our online order form and client portal are provided by Appravia and are subject to its own terms and privacy practices. This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when a page loads.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The client portal may use cookies needed to keep you signed in.
How we protect information
Documents and finished reports are delivered through a password-protected portal instead of ordinary email where possible. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your choices
You can ask us to update your contact information or tell you what information we hold about you. Some records cannot be deleted because appraisal law requires us to keep them.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date.
